Greg Smith was a true NH Surf/Ski Legend. There was nobody like him.
This is a short clip from Channel 4 from February of 1983 with Greg and I.
Plus some early Greg skiing clips including with Warren Miller
when he did a flip off the headwall of Tuckerman's Ravine in 1984

OCTOBER. LOVE IT OR HATE IT.
The Ups and Downs of my favorite month.
|
|
THE CORN STALKS OF MY GARDEN.
These corn stalks serve a multi purpose at our homestead. The obvious is they provide us with the sweetest tasting corn on the seacoast (says me). And then they become part of the traditional New England look. I love October and this is one of the reasons why. This simple look of my corn stalks adorning the columns on our front porch.
Yes I'll be raking those leaves once they ALL fall off the red maple in our front yard. And not a second before. My brother gave me crap about the leaves when I sent him this pic yesterday. Rookie doesn't know that you must wait until all the leaves fall before you attempt at raking.
The pumpkins you see on the steps? Yeah those pumpkins came from my garden as well. I grow pumpkins for the grandkids to pick. Again, it's all about tradition in our home. I love it when they come to visit and they pick corn, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, squash, and my pumpkins.
Tradition is a river that runs deep in our home.
This pic above was taken on October 2nd, 2021 in Raphine VA. Cory and i with the grandkids. We were there visiting the farm that our late Grampy and Grammy owned. Our three kids spent many a Thanksgiving there. Our grandkids have never been. They are both buried together in their beloved Virginia. This was a bittersweet visit.
And speaking of bittersweet. CRACKIE made his first ever Halloween appearance after being released from the hospital after his lengthy coma. The kids in Hampton had a large Halloween gathering at the school and well, I thought why the hell not? Let's get the Ole Crackster in the front yard and maybe scare a few kids. I of course was worried sick that he might say something inappropriate. Thank God he behaved himself.
That's my old Shark Board. That's also the logo I designed for Zapstix. Speaking of which. I bet not many of you know that I came up with not only the logo for Zapstix, but the name itself. And....I gave Zappy that Nickname.
It's true. Just ask Mike Paugh himself. He'll tell you.
REST IN PEACE Colin Powell.
I always thought that he would have made a Great president. I have video footage of him speaking at the re-dedication of the 54th Massachusetts All Black Regiment
Memorial monument in Boston, MA. The 54th fought in the Civil War. That same monument was desecrated during the protests the summer of 2020.

This was always one of my favorite pics of Adam. I have a video clip of him that I will post one day that was my all-time favorite of him. It's a classic from the Wall. Adam is the father of two boys and a girl. He's a great dad. Photo by Ed O'Connell

Now for Some Local and National News
Today is the Paddle for Greg Smith. If you're around please join us we honor a true NH Legend. Greg was bigger than life throughout his time on earth. He touched many souls over the years and made a lot of us smile and laugh.
This is not to be missed if you were a friend of Greg's. Or if you're a local surfer who may have only heard stories of Greg. Join us as we celebrate his life at one of the spots that he ruled at whenever he paddled out. There are hundreds of Greg Smith stories. If you knew him, I'm sure you have a few of your own.
That's what this paddle is all about.
Talking and sharing stories of a TRUE NH SURF LEGEND. This is today at 4:30 PM at The ROCKS in RYE, NH.
PADDLE FOR GREG SMITH.
And the collapse of the Red Sox happened after that NO STRIKE call with Nathan Eovaldi. Why don't they have a RED FLAG policy like the NFL? That was terrible.
Thank you for an exciting post season. Hey they beat the YANKEES and they beat TAMPA BAY.
Now GO PATS and GO BRUINS!
KSM Photoshop of the Week
Now just hold on a minute here. Are you telling me that KSM somehow was the UMP for that game changing NON CALL?
To quote CRACKIE over in the other column. GOD DAMMIT!
Ole Khaliddy never surprises us.
And so my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

I kept a daily Blog on my CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY surf campaign, when I surfed every single day for 365 consecutive days. Click on the Banner above to read entries of my daily journey. There's some really interesting and true experiences
that happened during that year. Some of which are to this day, unexplainable. Some are just mind blowing. But all true.
I started on July 26th, 2010 and ended on July 26th, 2011.
Some rainy Sunday, pour yourself a cup and go through the journal.
Pay close attention to the month of May in 2011. Read that month and let me know what you think of that. Be forewarned it will change you forever.
